Employee Rights - Working Time Regulations

There are specific rules relating to different types of employees. Please find summarised below the provisions for day workers and adults. Please call if you have queries relating to night workers or youths.

Limit on working time Weekly Working Time 48 hours per week, taken as an average over a 17-week period
Adult Workers Rights Daily Rest Period 11 consecutive hours rest in every 24 hour period
  Weekly Rest Period Uninterrupted period of 24 hours in every 7-day period
  Daily Rest Break 20 minutes, provided working longer than 6 hours
  Annual Leave 4.8 weeks paid annual leave (inclusive of public holidays)

An employee may opt out of these rights in writing with the employer, but may re-assess them by giving not less that 7 days notice to the employer.
