Trainee Solicitor of the Year 2015

Hannah Nicholls Peterborough Trainee of the Year 2015

Hegarty Solicitors’ Hannah Nicholls was awarded the Peterborough Trainee Solicitor of the Year Award at the Peterborough and District Law Society’s 85th Annual Dinner on Friday 13th March.

Hannah started her training contract with the firm in September 2013 with a seat in the Family department. This quickly bolstered her confidence as Hannah was conducting her own advocacy in Court. Further seats in both the Company and Commercial Property departments introduced Hannah to the legal issues faced by individuals and businesses in commercial settings as well as a different type of client. Hannah has adapted to each seat admirably, demonstrating her academic excellence and skill at engendering the clients’ trust.

Hannah was nominated by Richard Hegarty, head of the property department in which Hannah is currently sitting, who said “Hannah has proved to be an excellent trainee. Not only has she demonstrated excellent academic skills, she has also shown she is able to grasp the commercial aspects of the client's matter. Consequently, Hannah has been an effective member of each department in which she has worked and her calm and considered manner quickly puts the client at ease. Accordingly I was very keen to nominate Hannah for Trainee of the Year."

“I am very happy to have won this award. It was the perfect end to a wonderful evening at the Law Society Annual Dinner. I have enjoyed a high level of responsibility and variety of work from day one of my training contract and I feel that it has provided a solid base upon which to build the rest of my legal career. I particularly enjoy the complexity of commercial property law and hope to continue in this field when I qualify in September 2015 says Hannah.

Matthew Sidebottom, Training Principal, comments “We recognise the importance of quality staff and believe in developing and nurturing our talent. Hegarty’s Ashley Kidd won the Young Lawyer of the Year Award last year and 50% of the firm’s partners joined as trainees. We feel this demonstrates the firm’s excellent training contract package and is a strong argument for legal graduates to choose Hegarty Solicitors for continuing their legal training.”
