Chris Brown is an Associate solicitor in the Family Law department. After studying law at both London South Bank and De Montfort University in Leicester, he qualified in 2009 and joined Hegarty Solicitors in 2012.
Chris specialises in advising and assisting clients in relation to the division of assets and resources when a marriage breaks down either dealing with matters through negotiations or within Court proceedings. He also advises clients in relation to financial claims arising between couples who were not married. Chris has experience of representing a wide range of clients from those who have modest assets, to those whose assets are worth millions, and prides himself on his ability to tailor a service to meet the specific needs, and financial resources, of his clients.
Chris also has specific expertise in Private Law Children Act cases and is an experienced advocate who has been regularly representing clients in the Family Proceedings Court and County Court since 2006.
As a member of Resolution, Chris is part of a national group of family lawyers committed to the non-confrontational resolution of family disputes, always considering the best interests of children and the needs of the whole family.
Chris is a Resolution Accredited Specialist Family Lawyer with particular specialisms in Complex Financial Remedies 1 (lower assets/income) and Complex Financial Remedies 2 (high and exceptional assets/income).
Chris is a member of the Peterborough Family Law Group, the Peterborough Young Lawyers Group and the Peterborough Young Professionals Group, and is therefore well connected in the local legal community.
