Tim Thompson is a partner in the Employment Law Department at Hegarty Solicitors. He joined Hegarty Solicitors in 1977 and qualified with the firm in October 1978. He was made a partner a year later.
Tim advises both employees and employers on all matters relating to employment law, but specialises in dismissal and discrimination cases, disciplinary proceedings, negotiating termination packages and advocacy at employment tribunals.
With over 30 years’ legal experience, Tim takes a practical and pragmatic approach to all cases. He uses strong but friendly negotiation skills on behalf of his clients and his flexible and helpful approach includes offering outside visits and out of hours appointments where helpful. Clients appreciate his straight talking approach avoiding legalese and giving solutions to problems rather than an explanation of the law.
Tim often speaks at business seminars and meetings about employment law. He is also the partner responsible for handling any internal complaints for Hegarty Solicitors and with effect from January 2013 has been the Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) for the firm. This is an internal administrative role ensuring the practice complies with its obligations for Outcome Focused Regulation as supervised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
