Family solicitors spread festive cheer to local children and young people with Christmas Toy appeal

The family team at Hegarty in Peterborough has been buying extra Christmas presents this year for vulnerable local children and young people who may be facing a difficult time this Christmas.

The Christmas Toy Appeal is organised by Family Action and is part of their Together at Christmas campaign. The Campaign aims to make Christmas a little more special for children and families facing difficult issues and hardship.

Family Action work to tackle issues facing families; including financial hardship, domestic abuse and mental health problems. They work directly with vulnerable children and families to support them through local services.

Carl Russell, Head of the Family Department at Hegarty Solicitors commented “Our team of family solicitors work with local services such as Family Action and are aware of the many families suffering hardship, which is particularly difficult at this time of year.

“The team decided they would like to do something to support these local families and have been buying extra presents for children and young people who may not otherwise have a gift this year.”

Each year companies and individuals donate gifts to the appeal and are matched with a local service to provide presents for children and young people in time for Christmas. Over 5,000 gifts were donated through the Family Action Toy Appeal last year.

Aimee Darke from Family Action commented “Family Action’s Christmas Toy Appeal aims to bring a little festive magic to the lives of children and young people supported by the charity’s 130 services across England and Wales. This year we’re aiming to have our most successful appeal yet, giving nearly 6000 children and young people a gift to open at Christmastime.”
