HMRC to decommission the use of stamp presses

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) will officially withdraw the use of the Stamp Duty press machines from 19th July 2021 marking an end to a tax-related history spanning more than 300 years.

HMRC are set to continue the electronic process that was implemented in March 2020 following the change in process as a result of Covid-19 which meant physical forms could not be received and processed. There will no longer be a physical stamp, instead, all forms will be sent electronically and HMRC will provide a letter confirming the required duty has been received and paid.

For further advice or assistance with any stamping that may be required please contact our team.
