    Corporate Law

    Ashley Sutherland joined Hegarty in 2008 after studying at De Montfort University in Leicester. She qualified as a solicitor with the firm in 2010 and was promoted to partner in May 2020.

    Ashley specialises in corporate and commercial law and is the firm’s contract specialist producing, negotiating and reviewing complex commercial contracts.

    Ashley works with clients in a wide variety of sectors advising them on the best business structure for their needs as well as assisting them with reorganisations and restructures, investments, mergers, acquisitions and disposals.

    Ashley is the firm’s Training Principal responsible for the firm’s current and future trainee solicitors. She also acts as a Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer for the firm.

    Outside of Hegarty, Ashley is a committee member of the Peterborough & District Law Society and sits on the boards of Peterborough Environment City Trust and Green Energy Switch.

    In 2014 Ashley won the Peterborough & District Law Society’s Young Lawyer of the Year Award; this reflects her hard work, dedication to clients and ongoing community involvement.

    Outside of work, Ashley practises and teaches in the martial art of Tang Soo Do. She has competed in many tournaments over the years both nationally and internationally and has won several awards for her dedication to the arts. Ashley is Director for Female Athletes for World Congress of Martial Arts (WCOAA) and is a fully qualified instructor.
