    Head of Wills, Trusts and Probate Department

    Greg Baker passed the Chartered Institute of Bankers Trustee Diploma in 1984. After working for Trust Companies of two major Banks both onshore and offshore, he qualified as a solicitor in 1998 and became a partner in Hegarty in 2006.

    His expertise lies in complex wills, probate and estate administration, trust creation, powers of attorney, care fee funding issues, and personal capital taxation advice. Greg is also able to advise on estate planning through trust arrangements (from writing life assurance policies under trust to cover potential Inheritance Tax liabilities to Trust arrangements for pensions) and maximising Inheritance Tax reliefs.

    Greg has administered a number of Estates that include farms and has made successful claims for agricultural property relief in respect of the farm house. He has prepared Wills for a number of both farming and general business clients with a view to ensuring smooth succession planning and has prepared Powers of Attorney for business clients to enable the continuation of the business in the event of an unforeseen circumstance.

    With 40 years’ experience and having administered numerous multi-million pound estates, complex probate matters including business interests and overseas assets, Greg has a unique level of knowledge to assist a diverse range of clients.

    Greg is a member of Solicitors for the Elderly, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and the Law Society’s Private Client Section in respect of which he was an elected member of the Executive Committee from July 2008 to July 2014.
