Matthew Sidebottom

Partner Head of the Dispute Resolution & Criminal Department


Matthew Sidebottom is the head of the Litigation Department, Criminal Department, and a partner at Hegarty Solicitors.

Matthew has been with Hegarty Solicitors since 1986. He joined and then qualified with the firm after completing his studies at the London School of Economics and College of Law, London.

Overseeing all aspects of commercial litigation, Matthew specialises in contentious probate, Wills and Trusts disputes, boundary disputes, Chancery litigation, defamation and planning.

His considerable experience has led Matthew to be asked to speak on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire on the subject of commercial litigation.

Matthew is a key member of the Rural/Agricultural Sector team. He has experience of contentious agricultural matters and recently acted in a high profile farm dispute involving breach of trust issues and insolvency. Matthew successfully resolved the case with the farm assets being preserved.

Having grown up in Peterborough, Matthew has strong links with the local community.
