Representation at the Police Station
Anyone arrested in England & Wales is entitled to legal advice and representation in the Police station free of charge.
Hegarty Solicitors offer representation at the Police Station 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. If you have been arrested, or have been contacted by a Police Officer with a view to being interviewed by the Police, do not hesitate to call our office on 01733 346333 to arrange for one of our expert solicitors to represent and advise you. You can also ask for Hegarty Solicitors at the Police Station and we will be contacted accordingly.
Find out if you are entitled to Legal Aid
If you have been charged with an offence and summonsed to Court, you may need to find out if you qualify for Legal Aid.
Legal Aid can help to meet the costs of legal advice and representation in the Courts. It is means tested and can also only be granted for certain offences. At Hegarty Solicitors we offer a free Legal Aid assessment that can be completed over the telephone or face-to-face in the office. Please call us on 01733 346333 to speak to a member of the Criminal Law team.
If you are not entitled to Legal Aid
If you are facing prosecution and you are not entitled to Legal Aid, please contact us to discuss your case. We provide a fixed fee first appointment which costs just £100+VAT to assess your case, estimate the costs of your case and give an honest assessment of the help we can provide.
We can offer representation in the Courts on a fixed fee basis and can advise you about this once we have more information about your case.

Nationally Recognised Expertise
When you instruct us, you are in safe hands. Not only are we likely to have dealt with cases like yours, our expertise is recognised nationally. We are among just two per cent of criminal defence departments in England and Wales to hold an Excellence (1) rating – the highest possible – following our most recent Legal Services Commission Peer Review.
If cases proceed to the Crown Court, our solicitor Martin Newton has Higher Rights of Audience; which means we can provide continuity for our clients by appearing on their behalf in the Crown Court. We also have very strong links with a range of barristers from Junior Counsel to QCs.
So, in us, you will have one of the best firms in the country working on your case. We are on-call all day, every day. We listen and we advise in plain-English and with honesty, beginning with a conversation about what we think is likely to happen and how much your defence will cost. From then on we will prepare your case rigorously, deal with all the paperwork and procedural requirements and use our extensive contacts with barristers and expert witnesses to ensure that the outcome is the best it can be.
